Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] In recent years, the world has experienced disruptive changes that have significantly impacted women's working conditions, amplifying gender inequalities and undermining their well-being and productivity. In this scenario, entrepreneurship represents a valuable option for women: it allows them to fully express their identity, address the conflict between work and family, improve well-being and overcome negative stereotypes. It also has positive repercussions on society by promoting job creation, innovation, economic development and social justice. However, female entrepreneurship is still an untapped resource that must be promoted with appropriate interventions. Through a multidisciplinary approach that integrates social psychology, sociology, economics and pedagogy, this volume is characterized as an in-depth investigation that examines the macro, meso and micro factors that influence women's decision to start a business. This ambitious project offers a complex and detailed vision of the dynamics that drive female entrepreneurship in Italy. The outcome of this analysis is certainly an advancement of scientific knowledge on the topic - through the creation of an explanatory model of the factors that support and hinder entrepreneurship - but also the offer, based on empirical evidence, of useful indications and recommendations to those - politicians, business associations, professionals - who intend to support women in their entrepreneurial choices. Through interviews, focus groups, experimental studies and a mapping of policies, the volume outlines a path to reduce inequalities and enhance the potential of female entrepreneurship as a tool for resilience and economic development, thus connoting itself as an essential read for researchers, policy makers and anyone interested in understanding and supporting female entrepreneurship in an increasingly complex and challenging global context.
