Abstract
The right to health (and to medical treatment) is a fundamental one: it is stated as such by the Italian Constitution. How this right is practically granted to migrant people becomes therefore a significant “test” of the degree of coherence between solemn statements in principles and reality. While presenting the articles collected in this focus about Immigration and health, the introductory note briefly lists the main issues at stake, concentrating on the paradigmatic topic of the access to medical treatments by the illegal migrant, and on the specific subject of the protection of health of migrant women and children.
