Immigrant Associations

[Autom. eng. transl.] The contribution analyzes the main features of the association of immigrants in Italy. Both historical evolution and the current characteristics of the phenomenon are taken into consideration. It is highlighted how immigrant associations can constitute an important tool for the integration of immigrant citizens but, at the same time, how this potential is largely compromised by the great fragility that characterizes many associations. Finally, particular attention is paid to the relationship between local associations and public institutions as well as to the problem of the representativeness of the associations themselves.
