Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The volume traces the history of the photos of Alan Kurdi, the Kurd-siriamo child who died in September 2015 on the Bodrum beach. The volume reconstructs the events through which those photos have become a symbol of the destiny of migrants and of the injustice of their refusal. The three chapters of which the volume is composed analyze the online diffusion of the photos and the progressive transformation of them into emblems; the historical relationship between photography and the representation of death and pain; the link between the representation of childhood pain and humanitarian discourse.
