Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The study examines the relationships that, based on new documentation, can be glimpsed between the educated bishop of Padua Ildebrandino Conti (1319-52) and Bernardo Tolomei, founder of Monte Oliveto; behind the two noted ecclesiastics, the figure of the great Petrarch emerges, as well as those of Bindo, papal notary, and of Mino Cinughi, rector of the hospital of S. Maria della Scala, both from Siena and founders of the Carthusian monasteries of Maggiano, Belriguardo and Pontigano in surroundings of the city of Siena.
