[Autom. eng. transl.] Today a new type of tourism emerges that intends to oppose the mass tourism that has dominated our society for years, proposing packets of pre-packaged holidays and equal for all. In postmodern society, in fact, aimed more at the support of the individual and his affirmation, tourism also absorbs these "social impulses" that have found in the Net the optimal tool to package ad hoc and tailor-made holidays for each, holidays that also allow to the traveler to find that dimension of authenticity and search for the uncontaminated that distinguishes the man. The fertile union between the Internet and tourism has led every territorial institution, agency, tour operator to reinvent itself and re-propose itself in a new way, with interactive websites accessible to anyone with a simple click; Numerous specific service portals have been created and forums, newsgroups and communities are exponentially multiplying on the topic of vacations. This contribution aims to analyze the various aspects of online tourism with particular attention to the phenomenon of tailor-made holidays, selected, packaged and booked strictly online. In particular, then, the case of a tourist agency based in Rome, "Avventure nel Mondo srl", is presented, which for over thirty years has proposed an alternative kind of holiday: avoid mass tourism destinations and invest heavily in the component adventurous and transcultural of the tourist experience. On its website ( it presents a “do-it-yourself travel” section, a privileged object of our analysis, thanks to which it is possible to carve out your own customized trip by choosing the location, the duration of the stay , the possible excursions, the means of transport with which to carry them out and other particular aspects. The analysis of this artifact, accompanied by interviews aimed at those who have experimented with this formula and those who propose it, allows us to draw some psychosocial conclusions about the mechanisms that regulate online tourist activity and the decision-making processes that always lead to more individuals to choose a holiday formula of their own.
