[Autom. eng. transl.] The territorial decomposition of Austria-Hungary, favored and accelerated by the latest war developments, took place in just over two weeks, but the "evil" that had corroded it from within - that is, the nationalistic ideology, in its different forms - had roots much older than the world conflict. As evidence of how much nationalism was rooted in the Habsburg state structure, it is significant to note how it succeeded in heavily conditioning the life of an entity by its very supranational nature as the Catholic Church. On the other hand, in its victorious ride, nationalism was able to benefit from a no less lethal ally, namely anti-Semitism. Also in this case Austria-Hungary appears as a "laboratory", whose results would have conditioned the destinies of an entire continent.
