Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Expressive therapies are considered particularly effective intervention techniques to be used with children who are victims of natural disasters. In particular, several art therapists affirm that for children who are victims of trauma, drawing represents a preferential way to express emotions because it allows us to represent the complexity of experiences, perceptions, thoughts and memories of a traumatic nature, giving them a form and therefore a sense . Despite this the effectiveness of the use of the instrument has not been scientifically demonstrated. This thesis presents two studies, a pilot study and a main study, aimed at exploring the use of the “test de trois dessins: avant, pendant et avenir” as a diagnostic tool and therapeutic technique to be used with children victims of earthquakes in Abruzzo, Haiti and Chile. The pilot study is based on the qualitative analysis of case studies, while the main study uses quantitative and qualitative tools. The results show the effectiveness of the instrument in detecting the presence of psychic trauma and in encouraging processes of trauma processing. Future research is needed to implement validation of the instrument as a diagnostic technique and therapeutic tool with trauma-affected children.
