Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The book, strengthened by an articulated and complete research on the sources and a comprehensive bibliography, examines all the phases of the history of the Brescia Social Theater from the urbanistic, architectural and decorative point of view, starting from its foundation in 1851 like Teatro Guillaume (a sort of circus-politeama), passing through the numerous renovations and restorations, the last of which ended in 2000. The story of the Brescia Social Theater is also registered in a very important urbanistic process - never studied before with the attention reserved for him in this volume - which characterized the local and national debate (also involving designers of the caliber of Franco Albini and Luigi Piccinato) for a good fifty years, from 1950 to 2000 about: it is the opening of the Gambero pedestrian crossroads and the piazzetta Bruno Boni in the heart of the historic core of the city: a very important operation with few parallels in those years.
