Il supporto nelle relazioni familiari e il benessere dei giovani adulti: differenze di prospettiva

[Autom. eng. transl.] The present contribution focused on family relationships in families with young-adult children, investigating a dimension considered crucial in this phase, that of support. The goal was to compare the perceptions of family members regarding support in different relationships (marital relationship, parents-children, fraternal), and to investigate the links of each with the well-being of children. The sample was composed of 92 families (father, mother and two children). Subjects were given a scale to measure the level of support exchanged in the report. The children also responded to Rosenberg's Self-Esteem Scale and the Self Image Questionnaire of Offer, Ostrov, and Howard (1982). The results on the one hand confirmed the centrality of the maternal figure, already highlighted in the literature, on the other hand outlined the importance of both the marital relationship and the fraternal one. The well-being of young adults has seemed more connected to the paternal relationship than to the maternal one. Furthermore, the well-being of the minor child was partially associated with the amount of support he perceives in the relationship with his older brother.
