Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The 2021 Report on the Emilia-Romagna agri-food system represents an important contribution to the knowledge of a fundamental sector of the regional economy, a useful tool for operators and a guide for the policies of local authorities. The Report opens with two chapters which describe, on the one hand, the trend of global economies and agri-food markets, and on the other, EU policies and national ones for the agri-food sector. The main cyclical changes in the regional agro-food system occupy the central part of the Report, with four chapters dedicated to agriculture: production and profitability of the sector, vegetable production, livestock production, credit and use of factors of production. These chapters examine the trends that have characterized regional agriculture over the course of 2021. After that, they are addressed the other relevant aspects of the agro-food system region linked in particular to the downstream phases of agriculture: the food industry, with its economic dynamics and some structural insights into employment, foreign trade exchanges, which highlight the region's contribution to exports and imports of agro-food products, food distribution, with a description of the strategies of distribution companies, food consumption, with particular attention to the evolution and the composition of food expenditure at national and regional level. The final part of the Report is dedicated to interventions e policies in favor of the regional agricultural sector and the 2014-2020 Rural Development Programme, the activities of the regional chamber system in favor of the agro-food chain and the internationalization projects of the Emilia-Romagna Region for the enhancement of agri-food products.
