Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The 2018 Report on the Emilia-Romagna agri-food system represents an important contribution to the knowledge of a fundamental sector of the regional economy, a useful tool for operators and a guide for local authority policies. The Report opens with two chapters that describe, on the one hand, the trend of the world's economies and agri-food markets, and on the other, the EU and national policies for the agro-food sector, with the fourth year of application of the 2014 CAP. -2020. The main economic changes in the regional agri-food system occupy the central part of the Report, with four chapters that are dedicated to agriculture: production and profitability of the sector, vegetable production, livestock production, credit and use of production factors. These chapters examine the trends that have characterized regional agriculture in 2018. Subsequently, the other relevant aspects of the regional agri-food system are addressed, starting with the food industry, with economic dynamics and some structural insights into technical means and employment; the chapter on trade with foreign countries highlights the region's weight in exports and imports of agricultural and food products, while the one on food distribution focuses on the strategies of distribution companies; the chapter on food consumption highlights the evolution and composition of food expenditure at national and regional level.
