Abstract

The essay focuses on the articles related to the XVIII and XIX century published on the first twenty issues of the review «Per leggere». The analysis identified some distinguishing features of the journal: first, the central role of the examined texts, which are reported in the unabridged version before each essay; second, the focus on the main authors, in particular Carducci, Leopardi and Manzoni. The absence of Foscolo is balanced by the fact that his works are often quoted and discussed in the other articles. The last part of the essay, basing on the suggestions contained in the examined works, takes into account some cases of intertextuality: between the structure of Alfieri’s Rime and Foscolo’s sonnets and between Manzoni’s works, a translation by Tommaso Gargallo and the poems La piccozza by Pascoli and Guerra and Idillio Maremmano by Carducci.
