Abstract
The opening essay (Livia Cadei, Il senso dello humour: riflessioni per il lavoro socio educativo) is oriented on the impact in socio-educational work and presents areas of interest and studies on the theme of humor. It is interesting to observe that humor may fulfill a space in a caring relationship, but it can also strengthen the professional identity of social workers. Laughing together is not free from ambiguity, it is an opportunity that supports the caring process and helps in progressing the therapeutic relationship. At the same time, humor is part of professional culture and it shapes the meaning of events, situations and activities
