Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The economic structure of the Trapani area is very similar to the Sicilian average (with which it shares the strong weight of the traditional tertiary activities) but differs for some sectors. In particular, there is a higher percentage of agricultural workers, mainly specialized in the production of wine and oil grapes. Fishing under the industrial profile has had an interesting development in the processing and conservation of tuna. In fact, despite the lack of local raw material10, the fish processing industry continues its activity with the production of smoked, plastic and glass preservation, oil and tuna bottarga. Another important fact concerns the greater incidence of employees in accommodation and catering activities, an area in which the LLD shows an "emerging" specialization. The recent increase in the hospitality sector is closely linked to the positive trend in tourism, linked above all to the attractiveness of the sea, which has created a greater demand for services.
