[Autom. eng. transl.] The family of our time seems to show considerable difficulties both morphological and educational and formative: most of the scientific literature attributes, in fact, a situation of profound crisis to this multifaceted institution. Talking today about the family, about the transformations and adaptations it has undergone over the centuries, about the characteristics of parenting roles and functions, is the start of a rather complex reflection, for which there are no absolutely valid models and exclusive solutions. At the same time, it also means dealing with common places that are well suited to the individualistic climate that characterizes the life of the person who lives in contemporary society and who want to believe in the assumption that the family is a temporary, almost ephemeral good. . In reality, its form can change over time and cultures, but not in the meaning it assumes for the growth of each man. This contribution addresses, in particular, the issue of paternity related to disability, analyzes the different phases that a father must go through in order to be aware of the special educational needs of the child.
