Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Changes in society involve families, and produce new needs that require increasingly pertinent responses from family counselors. In particular, the need to work for the development of family empowerment emerges. The family is asked to take care of the bonds that constitute the plot that sustains the person in his growth process and that increase the quality of life of a community. In other words we could say that the family is entrusted with the task of promoting the so-called "social capital". Empowerment aims to increase the freedom and responsibility of the family, expanding the possibilities of choice and favoring the achievement of its objectives.
