Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The recent phenomenon of reshoring in western economies makes the debate very fertile, both at an academic and managerial level, with particular reference to the reasons why different offshoring decisions have proved to be ineffective over time. While on the one hand the reference to protectionist policies seems to be the central node of the debate, it clearly emerges the need to broaden the analysis perspective and reflect on localization choices in a broader context, reasoning both in terms of external context opportunities and of endogenous decisions to the companies that influence its consistency. This article aims to address the issue of the location of productive activities with a focus on the underlying decision-making process, in order to identify the factors that more than others are able to influence offshoring / reshoring decisions.
