Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The recognition of entrepreneurial opportunities and their exploitation are at the center of today's reflection on entrepreneurship, which is almost exclusively of Anglo-Saxon origin. The volume, after an overview of the literature and the main empirical work on Opportunity Recognition, analyzes the story of a sample of Italian entrepreneurs operating in some technological sectors and captures the process by which the opportunity became a business. The personality traits of an individual certainly contribute to distinguishing potential entrepreneurs from other subjects, they are associated with other factors such as school education, previous work experience, the market, the family background and the network of contacts in which the subjects are inserted. Analyzing the various business events, it was possible to highlight undoubted regularities and recurrences in the trials of those who, by choice or by necessity, undertake the path that leads to the establishment of a new business. On these recurrent factors it is necessary to intensify the studies and identify the optimal modalities for their possible reproducibility and diffusion in the social context so as to make it favorable ground for the growth of subjects able to contribute, through the proliferation of new enterprises, to the creation of wealth and jobs.
