Abstract
The essay is a study about Charles Sanders Peirce's Semiotics. It focuses especially on Peirce's notion of "index", trying to show its centrality in Peirces's thoughts. The notion of index, that was developed in a crucial moment of Peirce's work, is a key to understand all his way of understanding knowledge and the nature of language.
