Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Today's HTA processes involve the assessment of safety, clinical efficacy and cost-effectiveness related to the use of health technologies, and sometimes they are added to the assessment of organizational, ethical, social and legal aspects. These evaluation elements are normally considered individually. The main drawback of this approach is that it does not take into due account the fact that the selection of the aspects that must be evaluated in the HTA process basically depends on the value framework, apart from which the evaluation is conducted. The different stakeholders reason and act themselves starting from different value frameworks, which has an obvious impact on the HTA process. Therefore, rather than considering the ethical, social and legal aspects as separate, it should be recognized that they constitute the framework from which it is possible to determine which empirical evidence is necessary, in order to assess the value of a given healthcare technology. VALIDATE ”(VAlues in Doing Assessments of healthcare Technologies) is a project funded by the European Union under the Erasmus + program. Its objective is to train the next generation of HTA experts to use an approach, where the assessment of safety, effectiveness and economic impact is integrated with that of organizational, ethical, social and legal aspects. The aim of the intervention will be to illustrate the context, objectives, contents and outputs of the VALIDATE project.
