Il posto della competenza

[Autom. eng. transl.] What is the competence? Which training and professional path determines it? Who evaluates it? The volume tries to answer these questions, analyzing the competence within different fields, from organizations to training systems, from European experiences to Italian experiments. The term competence assumes from time to time the meaning of a person's professional attribute, of ways of managing human resources in organizations, of techniques for identifying training needs, of resources for initiating redevelopment actions and others. The polysemy of the term allows its use in different areas of work, training, and organizational life. But precisely this characterization exposes him to risks of ambiguity, to subjective and extemporary interpretations and declinations. The image of the medieval city that emerges from the fog, shown on the cover, aims to be a metaphor for how the concept of competence is used and interpreted today, and the objective of this volume is to help thin out the mists that still surround it. Competence seems destined to become a foundational category in the future to interpret work, professionalism, organization, training. But, the metaphor suggests, not everything can be declined in a rational way: competence is a concept that is understood both with intuition and with the intellect and, above all, with the future as the past, if it is true that the construct of competence it is composed of elements acquired and ascribed at the same time, if not in the same measure.
