Abstract
The Covid-19 pandemic can be defined as a total social phenomenon, i.e. a phenomenon which, despite its specificity, is linked to all others, thus making it possible to read and understand an entire society.
If one accepts, therefore, to broaden one’s outlook following the proposal of this contribution, it becomes clear that we are not dealing with a pandemic, but with a syndemic, i.e. a peculiar situation in which there are biological and so¬cial interactions between conditions and states. These interactions increase the susceptibility of some individuals to harm and/or worsen the outcomes in terms of health conditions. The article shows how it is necessary to focus attention on the social dimension of the pandemic, especially in a prospective and projectu- al dimension, which is able to address today’s critical issues as a drive to trans¬form political choices, certain customs and narratives in order to strengthen the resilience capacities of different countries and Italy in particular.
