Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The greatness of Dante's theorist of language and literature does not lie so much in the accuracy of his design (not free from errors of which history has done justice), but in the genius of his approach: the centrality of literature in the cultural universe, as done existing and coagulating the Italian spirit. But the greatness lies above all in the use of linguistic matter, in such a way that the language is not managed by meaning, but manages the meaning, already at its level, pre-semantic, grammatical and rhetorical.
