Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The new Basel rules introduce the rating of companies and have been developed with the aim of causing a profound change in the relationship between banks and companies. This relationship, now more conflictual than cooperative, and in any case characterized by substantial information asymmetries between the parties, should go in the direction of strategic collaboration between the subjects. The research work presented in this book aims to provide useful tools in this direction and is dedicated in particular to SMEs in the province of Lecco and Brianza. The analysis was divided into three levels: • study of the potential effects of the new Basel agreements on credit institutions and debtor institutions; • accurate analysis of the productive fabric of the Province of Lecco and Brianza and their actual situation in terms of finance and access to bank credit; • development of IT tools to be made available to companies in order to better understand the problems related to the Basel 2 rules and in any case useful for benchmarking and self-assessment purposes.
