Abstract
Some trends in contemporary criminal policies (especially in Italy) are analyzed, focusing on some recent legislative measures and corresponding cultural attitudes towards foreign immigrants. The influence of the "law and order" mentalities on such policies are discussed and criticized as conducive to "labelling" outcomes, which threat to favour criminal behaviours instead of effectively preventing them.
