Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The book entitled La gratia de 'Principi is the best-known political treatise by Federico Borromeo, cardinal of the Holy Roman Church and archbishop of Milan. There, Cardinal Federico's long reflection on the themes of court service, the aims and means of the government of men and their relationship with divine law finds a first place. By means of a broad textual interpretation, the article offers some important interpretations, capable of reconnecting the work (and its author) to the broader political debate of the beginning of the seventeenth century.
