Il lavoro su Goldoni, in cerca di «un valore contemporaneo»

[Autom. eng. transl.] The monograph dedicated by Mario Apollonio to Goldoni in 1932 is linked to the pioneering study conducted by the scholar on the Commedia dell'Arte, published in 1930. With these works Apollonio leaves the idealistic aesthetic and moves away from the Crocian idea of the literary reduction of the theater. The theatrical writing is instead inserted in the theory of the choral art that Apollonius began to formulate: the theater is intended as a word that happens in the relationship between the actor and the chorus-audience. Goldoni's texts are studied with a pioneering method, enhancing the specific techniques of scenic writing and the difference compared to literary composition.
