Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Hate speech, online harassment and non-consensual pornography should be counted among the phenomena attributable to the so-called "Dark side of the web". Having examined the characteristics of the network that favor its spread and amplify its harmful consequences, this article aims to deepen the role attributed by Italian and European legislation and jurisprudence to the managers of social platforms in combating such offensive conduct. Having highlighted the advantages and limitations of the various approaches, the harmonization, at least at European level, of the notice and take down procedures, already regulated in Germany, is envisaged as a possible compromise between the interests at stake.
