Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The contribution illustrates the catechetical experimentation carried out by Don Lorenzo Milani in the 1950s to San Donato di Calenzano. Dissatisfied with traditional methods, he began experimenting with a new catechism centered on a historical scheme as an alternative to the traditional catechism of Pius X built on a logical or systematic scheme. The young chaplain took note of the intellectual laziness and religious indifference of the people and emphasized the need for a positive theology, that is, historically founded. in the Catechism of Don Lorenzo Milani there are simultaneously present indications that substantially follow the traditional Catechism, while others present innovative aspects that seem to recall the proposals put forward in the application of the principles of activism to catechesis and religious teaching. In his Catechism, in an area of transition between tradition and renewal, pastoral models linked to the Tridentine tradition and progressive impulses that collect some innovative ideas of the theological research of the time coexist, even if the basic scheme, historical-chronological rather than systematic, they place it closer to what will then be called the Kerigmatic current of catechesis.
