Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] In fact, starting from the middle of the last century, the legislation and policies of industrial countries more
advanced have, on the one hand, regulated more and more sciences and technologies; but,
on the other hand, they have also increasingly legitimized the regulatory power
through evidence-based knowledge mediated by expert opinion.
The self-validating and self-referential power of scientific knowledge, produced
and justified by the community of scientists, in fact, appears problematic
for democratic societies which, unlike authoritarian regimes,
they are definitively engaged in evaluation and legitimation exercises
of the powers exercised in them.
