Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Most of the essays in this book take up the speeches presented at the seminar entitled "A Child of God Much Like Yourself Perhaps": Fifty years of Cormac McCarthy, held at the Brescia headquarters of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart on 10 December 2015. Objective of the day of study was to celebrate the work of Cormac McCarthy, of which a double anniversary fell: the fifty years from the debut, The Orchard Keeper (1965), and the thirty years from the publication of Blood Meridian, or the Evening Redness in the West (1985), perhaps his most significant novel. The Brescia seminar was conceived and structured in two sessions: the first focused on Blood Meridian, analyzed from various points of view, not only literary; the second dedicated to other works. In this book, which also includes contributions from scholars not involved in the seminar, the material is divided into three parts: the opening section, dedicated to the first two novels by McCarthy, is followed by the section on Blood Meridian; the third section, finally, consists of two essays on his latest works.
