Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Within his "Opuscula" printed in Venice in 1502, the Ravenna-born Lidio Catti inserts a polymetric "Processus order of judges". In this work, the poet stages a real trial in Latin, during which he denounces his beloved Lydia for having stolen his heart. To defend herself from the accusation, the woman submits to the court - and therefore also to the reader - the songbook in vernacular dedicated to her by Catti himself. A previous edition of this curious "Processus" is kept at the Municipal Library "Aurelio Saffi" in Forlì, inside a manuscript dating back to around 1487. This small paper code, opened by the patrician's coat of arms, is in fact a copy of dedication, a tribute from the poet to his protector. The contribution aims to analyze the evolution of the work in the light of the common factor of Catti's poetics, namely his passion for the experiment and for the even enigmistic use of words and verses.
