Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] What future can we expect for our welfare? This question, which worries many in a time of deep crisis, actually asks us to think of future scenarios that are completely different from those we are used to. Probably, as happened in the past, the change will lead to new paradigms, as well as to the establishment of a welfare system based on principles and values different from the usual ones. An attentive observer can already grasp some signs of such a change. In this regard, the author of the article points out, among the most important factors, the mutualistic perspective and a new concept of subsidiarity. Starting from a careful reflection on the role of the State towards society, a clear definition of horizontal subsidiarity is proposed, referring to the importance of autonomous civic efforts. Furthermore, an innovative and profound vision of how to understand aid and - in general - the sense of welfare is highlighted.
