Aim: in this review the authors analysed a specifi c approach to bipolar disorders, i.e. the Family Focused Treatment (FFT). They focused on the outcome of patients and their families treated with this therapy in order to demonstrate its effi cacy. Methods: the whole literature concerning the above mentioned therapy was considered in the database of PsycINFO e MEDLINE. The articles were reviewed by title, abstract and text. Results: the articles stressed the effi cacy of the Family Focused Treatment. Conclusions: the FFT can be assumed as a valid form of psychoeducational therapy that improves symptomatic and functional outcome of bipolar patients when added to drug therapy.
