Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The Passion of Christ is the story of a capital execution. A ferocious execution.
A man, a leader, is arrested, judged, massacred and then sentenced to death. Finally, he is executed in one of the most infamous and spectacular ways.
The king is on the cross. End of the reign. A tragedy!
This story, however, was not told and performed to arouse fear: fear of pain, fear of tears, fear of pity.
On the contrary, it was told and represented to teach how to feel the pain of others, to cry the same tears, to feel pity. In a word, to teach to have a heart charged with the misery of those who suffer: mercy.
The essay tries to show how this passage is readable in the change of the dramaturgical device which replaces the tragedy to be seen to understand, to be lived in order to feel.
