Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Introduction to the historical and political context within which the siege is situated. Strong attention to new naval wars on rivers and lakes, with a revolution in the art of building ships. Attention also to the enterprise of Gattamelata that with an army of 4000 horses and a thousand infantry reached Verona going up Val Sabbia, Lake Idro, Lodrone, Ampolo and Val di Ledro, up to Rovereto and then down along the Adige to join forces with Francesco Sforza's troops. It was also interesting to carry out galleons from Verona to Riva using carts and oxen, so that they could then sail on Lake Garda to bring aid to besieged Brescia.
