Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] In the work for the third edition of the Philosophical Encyclopedia, published by Bompiani in 2006, a specific need emerged, concerning the composition of an instrument that took into account the importance of the history of concepts and the history of problems: the first imposes the need that the concepts themselves are not gathered in a mere inventory, more or less updated, of terms; the second presses in a different direction than the construction of an abstract and invariable structure, independent of the cultural horizon of our age. In reality, history manifests the extended and strong connection of concepts and problems, so much so that the flexibility and the nuances of the concepts always determine a mutability of problems, and this requires the elaboration of an ontology applied to the realization of a base of relational data, able to meet the IT feasibility requirements of a complex and extensive work such as an encyclopedia. Here I propose as an example the concept of "field", a concept already identified by Joachim Ritter, able to highlight, for the future, the need to articulate data in an open and empowering structure of relations.
