Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The canteen is an integral part of the educational time within the school day: eating a meal at school is a fundamental moment of aggregation and growth, as well as an opportunity for proper nutrition education. Place of action, but at the same time of meaning and thought, the school canteen to be truly inclusive and not an appendix, needs a pedagogical planning attentive to small daily gestures. Starting, for example, with a reading of the great quantity of wasted food, solutions can be proposed to foster growth linked to civic dimensions such as the sense of saving, respect for resources and support for the weakest categories. The dimension of solidarity and non-waste education are part of a process of humanization, of an ecological intertwining of skills that can activate ethical behaviors and mental habits capable of activating new reception models at the moment of meal consumption. The intervention presents the research "Think, eat, don't waste" of the High School for the Environment of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, supported by the Cariplo Foundation.
