Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The present volume contains the Italian translation of the treatise on the memorization of Chinese characters based on Western mnemotechnics originally written in Chinese by Matteo Ricci and later reconstructed and published in China in 1624 at the behest of his brother Alfonso Vagnoni SJ (1566-1640) . In the introductory part, edited by the translator of the treaty, the context and circumstances that led the Maceratese missionary to compose his work in Chinese are also presented and the contribution he gave to the sinological and lexicographical studies through this and his other writings is described. The actuality of the mnemonic art applied to the Chinese language is also presented today: the methodological characteristics and the application in the teaching of the written Chinese language are presented.
