[Autom. eng. transl.] The first edition of "Hygiene for the Health Professions" comes from the experience of the authors in teaching this discipline in the three-year and master's degree courses in the health professions, which revealed the need to build an educational path that takes into account the educational objectives specific to these professionals, providing a solid toric foundation on classic hygiene issues and, at the same time, a broad and updated vision on the methods and techniques that define, today more than ever, the role of health professions in promotion and protection of health. The work is divided into 7 chapters which, introducing readers to the themes of health and the objectives of prevention and health promotion, illustrate the epidemiological methodology as an essential tool for the study of risks and dangers to health and continue with exposition of the most up-to-date knowledge on the prevention of infectious, chronic and chronic-degenerative diseases. Specific chapters are dedicated to Environmental Hygiene, Food Hygiene and Hospital Hygiene, in which technical, methodological and normative notions are provided useful in the development of specific professional paths. Finally, chapter 7 is dedicated to the introduction to the themes of economics, planning and health organization, in order to show the context and improve understanding of the dynamics of government of the health system.
