Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The contribution presents the biographical paths of some Catholic bishops of the People's Republic of China who have gone through the Maoist season and then the period of the "Reform and opening" policy, accepting to join the Chinese Catholic Patriotic Association and being subsequently admitted to full communion ecclesial. The figures on which we dwell are in particular those of Dong Guangqing, Liu Hede, Jin Luxian and Li Du'an: they show how, on the one hand, in a complex historical-political context, a single personal affair may have been crossed from apparently contradictory choices but, on the other hand, original and unexpected results have been possible.
