Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The essay proposes, with a large collection of textual references, a reading of the Manzoni masterpiece in terms of an apocalyptic novel, with particular reference to the four knights of the vision of St. John, brought back to the scourges that hit the scene of the "Promessi sposi": respectively, famine, war, plague and the plots of the wicked, assimilated to wild beasts or diabolical forces.
