[Autom. eng. transl.] The percentage share of Italian cow milk production collected in 2011/12 by the four largest "first buyers" - namely CR4 - is 13.4%; this share rises to 20.3% if we consider the eight largest companies: they are the same, placed in the same order, of the previous campaign. Both indicators, CR4 and CR8, in 2011/12 show a slight decline on a campaign basis, but in the medium term, that is during the last six campaigns, they are in strong growth, also due to the fact that the three companies of Lactalis (Galbani, Caravaggio Latte and Italatte) merged into Italatte Spa, which since 2007/08 has become the largest “first buyer” in the country with a 4.4% share in 2011/12, down 0.7 percentage points during the last campaign. In the first four places, in addition to Italatte, are placed in the order, Granlatte, Soresina and Santangiolina, ie a multinational private enterprise and three cooperatives, two active locally and one nationally. In addition to Parmalat, which is part of the Italatte group, there are three other cooperatives: Consorzio Produttori Latte Milano, Associate Assignees Arborea and Consorzio Agri Piacenza Latte.
