Abstract
The article proposes a reading of Met. Z taking notice of four important features: 1. Aristotle's intention to solve problems already posed in the preceding books of the Metaphysics, and in continuity with them; 2. The dialectical method of analysis, which prevents to hold provisory or partial results as unrestricted; 3. The consideration of the complex metaphysical structure of ousia relying on two different perspectives, which we could define in modern terms as connotation and denotation; 4. The intrinsic nexus which Aristotle discovers between the causes of genesis and those of knowledge.
