[Autom. eng. transl.] As part of the Youth Report, a national scientific survey on the condition of the Millennials in Italy, carried out annually by the Youth Observatory of the Giuseppe Toniolo Institute, in 2016 it was decided to carry out a study on the use and consumption of social networks, interviewing 2182 young people born between 1982 and 1997. This paper presents the main results of the research: active accounts for social networks, practices related to social networks, the meaning of being on social networks and the traps of the network (trolling, buffaloes, hate speech). For the majority of young people, social networks are mainly used for entertainment and entertainment, when the Network, in its potential, also contemplates other functions and objectives, such as socio-political commitment and the construction of networks that are functional even at work. It is clear that social networks are part of the life of the Millennials to all effects, it remains only to make use of them as much as possible virtuous, responsible and complete.
