Abstract

"I mille volti di Shakespeare nella cultura di massa" examines the presence of William Shakespeare in some aspects of popular and mass culture - comics (Italian comics, Disney's and Manga), cinema, TV, pop music, the Web (ads, social networks, online magazines). The volume points to show how Shakespeare is a bridge between the so-called high culture and low culture. Particular attention is given to "Hamlet" and "Romeo and Juliet" which are the most quoted, transposed and adapted Shakespearean works throughout the 20th and 21st centuries.
