Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The renewal of Italian oratories in the early twentieth century was intended to respond above all to the new needs of young people, who were preparing to take their first steps in the century in which its affirmation as an autonomous social and existential subject would take shape. The national oratorian movement developed an educational project that took into account the increase in school attendance, the increase in the work of adolescents in the factory, the new ways of enjoying free time and also the instances of protagonism that the Great War generated in the world of Young people. Like the most updated contemporary pedagogical culture and the innovative experiences of youth aggregation, even the oratorian circuits of our country, without losing the religious vocation of their mission, listened to the needs of that middle age in which, in a way more evident than in the past, a certain discontinuity was beginning to show with respect to the life experiences of previous generations.
