Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The volume reconstructs and analyzes the contribution of Italian Catholics to the relations between Italy and the People's Republic of China during the Cold War, examining the political, economic and religious motivations and visions that inspired the commitment of personalities such as Giorgio La Pira, Amintore Fanfani, Aldo Moro, Vittorino Colombo and Giulio Andreotti. Through the analysis of published and unpublished sources, it emerges that among Italian Catholics there were figures who were able to overcome the rigid division between communism and anti-communism and the geographical and cultural distance to develop a fruitful dialogue between two profoundly different realities on the level political, ideological and economic like Italy and China.
