Hugo e Dumas: il ‘fil rouge’ di una giustizia ‘diversa’ nella cultura europea

[Autom. eng. transl.] The contribution proposes a reading of "The Miserables" by Victor Hugo and of "The Count of Montecristo" by Alexandre Dumas aimed at highlighting how all the themes are contained in these novels which, today, are the basis of the orientation that takes the distances from the salary vision of justice, in favor of so-called restorative justice. Together with the works of Dostoevskji and Manzoni, these texts constitute an extremely acute critical heritage, but scarcely valued beyond literary analysis, concerning the inhumanity and the unjustness of a justice that legitimizes the infliction of evil on evil. It emerges, especially in Hugo, the perspective of a justice that knows how to design the good before evil and, above all in Dumas, the inanity of revenge precisely when it seems to have been realized in its most striking forms.
